Representation of the
patent for "connectable sandbag cover"
On the " World Exhibition-Expo 2000 by the Sea " in Germany. |
The invention concerns an innovation for construction of protective dams according to the sandbag principle.
The task of the invention
is therefore to create a novel reliable innovation for all technical sectors
currently covered by use of sandbags. The connectable sandbags are fitted
with a specific "velcro" pattern on their upper and lower sides, due to
which the connectable sandbags (connectable sandbag cover) sturdily connect
up to each other upon stacking. The location of the "velcro" pattern on
the upper and lower sides guarantee the ability to stack them without looking,
even at night. The invention works similar as interlooking bricks in a
wall; concretely put: in comparison to a traditional sandbag system, there
is increased protection by the factor of 20 - 30 against lateral water
pressure. The invention has deliberately kept simple for use by anyone,
see the following sample applications:
1. | construction of protective walls to defend dikes in case of flooding and storm floods. |
2. | construction of provisional houses and huts in disaster areas, for instance by iglo construction method. |
3. | construction of provisional bridges by viaduct construction method. |
4. | stable support for buildings in danger of collapsing after earthquakes, for instance in case of collective lodging like schools, gyms and hospitals. |
5. | securing of mine shafts by stable supports. |
6. | construction af protective walls against high wind speed, for instance as occurring during hurricanes and tornados. |
7. | construction of protective walls against fire using fire-proof sandbags (kevlar fabric). |
8. | further uses result from protection against slipping loads during transport by ship, airplane, truck and other transport systems (for instance railroads). |
Due to the high stability of the
connectable sandbags with respect to the known sandbags, the transport amount
for the respective use is substantially reduced. This also decreases the cost
for storage. Also, the purchasing cost for an amount of connectable sandbags
required for securing is lower than the purchasing cost of a corresponding amount
of the usual sandbags.
Also, this construction system of
the connectable sandbags is reusable for at least 100 times, and after disassembly
easily cleanable by pressurized water or cleaning brushes.
